Catnip Terms & Conditions

(Yes, we know
they’re boring.)

Although we don't have any nasty surprises, we want to make sure you know how we operate.

Pricing & Payments

All projects require a 50% non-refundable deposit before commencing, unless prior arrangements have been made. The remaining balance will be invoiced upon completion of the work. Completed/high-resolution artwork will not be delivered until the full balance has been paid.

If additional charges need to be incurred (e.g. stock photography), you will be notified by email in advance.

Our forms of payment include:
  • For Australian Clients: Direct Deposit OR Credit/Debit Card (via the secure facilities of Stripe).
  • For International Clients: Credit/Debit Card (via the secure facilities of Stripe) OR PayPal.
PayPal users please note that Credit/Debit Card payments will incur a 2.9% (US) or 3.9% (International) PayPal surcharge. Please add this percentage to your payment (the revised amount will be stated on your invoice).

Payment is due upon receipt of invoice, unless other arrangements have been made. There is a finance charge of 1.5% per month (18% annually) on all overdue balances. Failure to pay invoice after 180 days will result in debt collection at your expense.

Printing, Web Hosting or Other Additional Services

Pricing is for design and pre-press only. If you are in need of print or web hosting services, we can refer you to a printer or web host with whom you can organise your project directly.

Alternatively, if you would like Catnip to arrange printing or web hosting for you, there is a margin charge of 20% of the vendor's fee (e.g. if the printer quotes $100, we invoice you for an additional $20 upon project completion). This fee covers our time in liaising with the vendor on your behalf.

Please note that printing, web hosting, and any other third-party costs must be paid (either directly to the vendor or through Catnip to the vendor) before we can arrange these services on your behalf.

Turnaround Time

Logo Design – General turnaround for final artwork is 2-3 weeks.
Web Design – General turnaround until site completion is 4 weeks for a 10 page website.
General Proofs – After the first proof, we aim to get subsequent proofs back to you within 48 hours.

Please note that these are guidelines and not guarantees. However, we operate with the motto of "Underpromise and Overdeliver", so wherever possible we'll do our best to meet or exceed these timeframes.

If your circumstances require something faster, please let us know at the time of quotation and we'll do our very best to accommodate you.

These timeframes are extended if it is difficult to contact you, so please work with us to help expedite your job!

Proof-checking, Approvals and Errors

Catnip will always do everything we can to ensure that our proofs are error-free. However, it is your full responsibility to check your proofs thoroughly for any errors.

Once the project is completed to your satisfaction and checked carefully for errors, please notify us in writing via email that your project is approved.

Catnip will not be held responsible, or give any refunds, for errors noticed after you have given written approval on a project. Nor is Catnip responsible for any errors on the part of printers, whether they are referred by Catnip or your own printer.

Lapsed Projects

After we send you a proof of your artwork, we await either your changes or approval to complete the project. If we haven't received either changes or approval from you after 60 days from sending our last proof, the job will be automatically invoiced for the full quoted amount. However, the project will remain open and can still be completed at any time thereafter.

Delivery of Your Artwork

Logos will be emailed as a scaleable vector file (EPS and PDF). We will also provide JPG and PNG versions suitable for both print and web, along with a guide on how best to use these files.

All other designs will be emailed to you as a print-ready PDF file, or other format(s) as previously arranged. If you require additional formats, please let us know and we will accomodate you as best we can. If files are too large for email, we will email you a downloadable link via Smash (no account is required for artwork download).

Copyrights & Reproduction of Work

You will receive full copyright and reproduction rights upon payment for completed artwork(s).

However, Catnip retains the right as creator of the artwork(s) to use the completed artwork and any preliminary designs for the purpose(s) of promotion, design competitions, educational purposes, or the marketing of our business, unless a non-disclosure agreement has been signed by Catnip and the client that forbids use of the artwork(s) in such a manner.

Rejection/Cancellation of a Project

You shall not unreasonably withhold acceptance of, or payment for, the project.

If, prior to completion of the project, you observe any non-conformance with the design plan or are unhappy with the outcome, Catnip must be promptly notified, allowing for necessary corrections. Client satisfaction is our first priority, and we will go to any reasonable lengths to ensure you get what you expect.

However, if rejection is unavoidable, the completed project or cancellation during its execution will result in forfeiture of deposit and the possible billing for all additional labor or expenses to date.

All elements of the project must then be destroyed or returned to Catnip. Any usage of those design elements will result in appropriate legal action. You shall bear all costs, expenses and reasonable attorney's fees in any action brought to recover payment under your contract or in which Catnip may become a party by reason of your contract.
